It has ended as quickly as it began, the end of my first semester at DCB. We finished up in a strong way getting four straight wins after losing at Sheridan. The last two vs Leech Lake and at Trinity Bible were our best team efforts to date. The guys finally seem to getting it defensively as we held Leech to 77 on the 2nd day and held Trinity Bible to 62, while also getting our widest margin win of the year at 102-62.
We have had a couple player of the week winners this season so far with Koop and Jalyn both taking home the honor. Even bigger we had the week 3 NJCAA National Player of the Week when Jalyn took it home. We currently sit at 12-3 and are receiving votes in the NJCAA national poll (If it went as far we would be 25th overall). Hopefully we can get off to a good start in the Spring. We will open up January 2nd - 3rd at the Northland CTC New Year's Classic, and then crazy season aka conference season starts with a visit from Bismarck State College on January 8th.
The DCB Jacks wish everyone happy holidays and look forward to seeing you all in January.

Jack's Split at Sheridan
Happy Holidays from the Dakota College at Bottineau men's basketball team. We hope your Thanksgiving was great.
The team travelled to Sheridan, WY for a two game stint versus Sheridan College on Friday and Little Big Horn on Saturday. Both teams are NJCAA Division I members of Region IX.
On Friday, we fell to Sheridan 110-68. We played well for the first 8 minutes of the game, leading 21-18 early on. However, a Generals run would push the lead to as much as 24 in the first half before it settled at 20 at halftime. In the second half we came out well, cutting it to 15 with 16:00 to go in the game. However, the wheels came off quickly as Sheridan's defense and ability to run affected the Lumberjacks greatly. We battled to whole game, even down 30 late we were still playing hard and battling. Leading the way was Jalyn Turner with 22 points and Gilbert Carter with 19.
We came back Saturday afternoon and battled Little Big Horn. This was an exciting game to be a part of as both teams came out firing. The biggest lead in the 1st half was by the Lumberjacks at 9 points. By halftime the game was 51-47 in DCB's favor. In the second half the lead was again pushed up, this time to 7. LBHCC would battle back and would take the lead. They would push it to as much as 10 with 2:38 remaining in the game.
At this point, the Jacks were forced to go with a smaller, quicker lineup. The press of the Jack's and the don't quit attitude allowed them to cut into the lead until the final seconds. With 9.7 seconds remaining and trailing 105-104, the Jacks put Little Big Horn at the line. The shooter would hit the first shot to give them a 106-104 lead, he missed the second. Jalyn Turner grabbed the rebound and got it to Gilbert Carter near the volleyball line. Carter would drive the length of the court and would not only finish the layup but would get a foul call as well. He would hit the free-throw and with 2.7 left on the clock LBHCC turned the ball over preserving the 107-106 win.
For the game, Turner again was huge with 36 points, while Carter added 28, and Keouvion McCalop added a double double of 24 points / 14 rebounds.
I was extremely proud of the fight we showed all weekend. We are next in action on Friday evening and Saturday afternoon as we host Leech Lake out of Cass Lake, MN.
I also wanted to say a quick congrats to, Jalyn Turner on winning not only Mon-Dak player of the week, but also NJCAA Division II POW.
