Back to Back Region Champions

The Jacks traveled to St. Paul, MN on Sunday and played the Knights of Dakota County Technical College with the Region XIII Championship on the line. It took five extra minutes to do it but the Lumberjacks took home their second straight championship with an 87-77 win in overtime.

The Jacks used a stifling defense and hot shooting in the first half to take a 35-27 lead into the lockeroom. Dakota County was held to 32% shooting (11-34) and just 2-10 from three. DCB shot 47% (15-32) on the way to the 8 point lead. St. Paul native, Louis Williams led the way with 16 at the half.

In the second half the Knights chipped away at the lead until finally tying the game midway thru the half. In the second half there were seven ties, but the lead was never relinquished as DCB never gave allowed DCTC to turn the corner. A driving layup tied the game for the Jacks at 74 with under 10 seconds left. A half court shot and rebound attempt were both off as the horn sounded, sending the game to OT.

The Jacks dominated the OT, outscoring their opponent 13-3, holding them to 0-6 shooting while hitting 5-6 themselves. For the game DCB shot 51% from the field, and 9-21 from three (43%). The one area they struggled shooting was the line, hitting 10-20. DCTC shot 40% from the field and only hit 5-25 from three, and 10-19 from the line.
