We opened up the season this weekend with the Kevin Thom Classic. This is a classic in memory of a former Lumberjack player. We were able to secure two wins on the weekend.
On Saturday we came out from the tip and jumped all over Canadian Mennonite, going up 22-7 to start the game. We led 61-23 at halftime with all 12 players receiving playing time. In the end we used a 54-38 effort in the 2nd half to get the win 115-61. Leading 6 Jacks in double figures was Louis Williams with 22 on 10-14 shooting. He also added six rebounds. Keouvion McCalop added 21 points, six rebounds and four blocks. Gilbert Carter scored 14 with four rebounds, seven assists, and five steals. Jalyn Turner scored 13 points with four rebounds. Patrick Robinson added 11 points a game high eight steals. The final double digit scorer was Kristoff Walker with 10 points and five steals. The Jacks had an incredible 34 steals.
On Sunday DCB returned to the court and knocked off the University of Winnipeg 84-53. Leading the way was Turner with 18 points, six rebounds, and five assists. McCalop had a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds as well as five blocks. Walker scored 13 adding five rebounds, while Robinson and Carter each scored 12 with Robinson adding five assists.
The Jacks are 2-0 on the season and are back in action on Wednesday, November 5th when they travel to Belcourt to take on Turtle Mountain at 8:00 pm.
