A Much Needed Win

On Thursday the Dakota College at Bottineau basketball teams took to the road and visited our neighbors up north, travelling to Winnipeg to faceoff with Canadian Mennonite University. The Jack's came back with a 97-55 win, snapping a six game losing streak and improving to 15-9.

DCB jumped out early staking a 23-11 lead after the first quarter. Jalyn Turner led the way with 7 points in the quarter. The lead was expanded in the second quarter as the Jacks busted out for 30 points, led by 7 points from Pat Robinson and Louis Williams, as well as 6 more from Turner.  The halftime lead was 53-25.

In the 3rd quarter, CMU started the scoring, however DCB would go on to outscore their hosts, 19-10 to move the lead to 72-35 after three. It was a balanced attack with all but one player scoring in the quarter. In the final frame, three three-point shots by Robinson and 6 points from Keouvion McCalop allowed the guests to win the 4th 25-20 giving us the final difference of 42.

Robinson led the way with 25 points, including five makes from beyond the arc. Jalyn Turner scored 18, while Shaq Carlyle added 14 points from the bench, and McCalop added 12. Everyone that played for the Jacks scored at least 6 points.

The Jacks are next in action on Monday, when they open up round two of Mon-Dak play when they visit Bismarck State College for an 8:00 pm game.
