Conference Season Starts

Two games into the Mon-Dak season, two losses, but some promising looks. In the first game vs Bismarck State College, the Jacks were tied 41 all at halftime, before a 15-1 run early on in the second half blew the lead to 75-56 Bismarck State. Dakota College would make their own run in the second half to cut the lead to 10 with just under 4:00 remaining before the final tally of 87-70. Gilbert Carter led the way with 22 points, seven rebounds, and four assists. Keouvion McCalop added 13 points and five rebounds. Jalyn Turner was the last double digit scorer with 13 points and four rebounds.

On Monday, January 12th the Jacks traveled to Bismarck to for a key Region XIII Division II match up with United Tribes Technical College.  The Jacks again came out on the short end with a 94-91 loss. The first half was back and forth with UTTC leading the majority of the way, with a lead of 29-17 being the biggest of the half. DCB chipped away the rest of the half, with a Joe Baker layup at the buzzer cutting the lead to 57-53 at half.

In the second half there were 8 lead changes and 7 ties as both teams buckled down. UTTC led 94-91 with 15 seconds to go and the ball being in DCB's hands. The Jacks would come down and a three point shot from the corner by Pat Robinson would be off the mark sealing the Jack's fate. Leading the way for the Jacks was Carter with 38 on 15-30 shooting, including 5-11 from three. He also grabbed 12 rebounds and had 2 steals. Turner added 18 points, while Louis Williams added 10 of his own. McCalop tied for the team lead with 12 rebounds, while Darion Hancock was solid all round with five points, eight rebounds, and two blocks.

The Jacks fell to 14-5 on the season, and 0-2 in Mon-Dak play. They will play host to the Tetons of Williston State College on Thursday, January 15 directly following the women's game which starts at 6:00 pm.
